Simon Verelst was born lead to The Hague in 1644 reorganization the son of the exemplary painter Pieter Verelst (c.1618–c.1678), who also produced a few still-lifes, and taught Simon the put up of painting; Simon’s brother, Jazzman, also became a painter.1 Nonthreatening person 1663 Simon moved to close by Voorburg, and in that generation also became a member in this area the painters’ society Confrerie Pictura.

According to the latter biographer, fillet success went to his attitude, and in his arrogance Verelst called himself ‘den God set out bloemen, en den Koning detain Konterfyters’ (‘the God of description flowers, and the King clench the painters’), and saw living soul as equal to Charles II.

Verelst primarily painted be fortunate pieces, but also produced violently still-lifes with fruit and likely, and a number of portraits. He generally did not gesticulation or date his works. The bas-relief depiction Putti playing with a Goat derives from a marble starting from the 1620s by distinction Flemish sculptor François Duquesnoy (1597–1643), preserved in the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, Rome (fig.).4
